Our 2007 DSDP 4307 has the air dump feature on the tag. My question is: do I need to keep the dump switch depressed as I'm backing up to keep air out of the bag, and get the advantage of taking weight off of the tag? It seems that as soon as I release the rocker switch the bags start to fill again, right?
I use the feature if I'm making a sharp backing turn into a site.

Not sure about yours but my 05 MA automatically dumps the tag in reverse. I do need to hold the switch to dump it in forward. Hope this helps.

I am new to my 43' DSDP. I also have a question about the tag dump. When the tag dumps the air, how long does it take?, and does the wheels come off the ground or do the just releave the pressure?..Vacman

You need to keep the dump switch depressed while backing up.It just releases air in bag, does not raise tag either. This takes about 10 to 15 seconds for most of the air to release pressure so tag tire can slide with less pressure on the road.Hope this helps.

It is my understanding from Spartan that the Tag Dumps automatically in Reverse (no need to hold the button)... But you have to manually hold the button in the Forward (Drive) position for sharp turns etc. The wheels do not come off the ground as does CC and Monaco coaches.

Thanks guys. I do kind of remember someone at Newmar or the dealer mentioning the automatic dump in reverse. Just seems that I never hear anything happen. Maybe I'll also hit the switch.

Our Essex did as you describe...would not auto dump in reverse. Something was wrong with the system and I had it fixed. Now it automatically dumps as soon as the transmission goes into reverse. Open your window, and you should have no problem hearing the bags dumping air. If you don't hear air dumping when you go into reverse, something is incorrect with the system....It should auto dump....Get it checked out.
Hope this helps out.

Mine does not dump when in reverse automatically even if it is suppose to. That suits me fine. Many times, like turning and backing up my steep driveway, it's the last thing one would want. Manually selection is fine for me. If it was programmed to dump the air in reverse, I would have it disabled. Of course, that's my chioce, not everyones.

It is my understanding that the auto dumping in reverse is not on the K2 chassis. My 2006 Mountain Master chassis did dump in reverse but my 2008 K2 does not. I did not have that auto dump feature on my 2004 Mountain Master either. Holding the button down before the comfort drive was more of an issue.
Thanks, Daryl

Question, I know the tag release has a high speed cut off. I think it was above 10mph, but I can't remember.
I was thinking of replacing the momentary switch with an on/off switch so in really tight maneuvers the switch would not have to be held down. Anyone done this?
I am curious to what would happen if the switch was left engaged (say by accident). Example would the tag dump at low speed, and as soon as you sped up it would re inflate, but would it deflate again when the speed dropped? Or would the switch have to be switched off/on to reset the system?

Daryl, That would explain why it doesn't work, thanks.
The dump engage speed is suppose to be about 8 MPH, but in my experience, I think it is no more than half that, say 4 MPH. I've never held it to confirm it would re-inflate and at what speed. As far as a non-momentary switch, I would check with Spartan as to the duty cycle on the soleniod valve coil. It would be easy to leave on while idling, etc.
