Fanner, welcome to iRV2.

We have several Essex owners on our forum.

One will soon be along to help you with your 2004 Essex tag axle operation.

Hi fanner,
I believe you must push and hold down your tag dump button for the air to be released. There is also a 5 or 7 mph limit for operation.
Thanks, Daryl

fanner,
The other thing is that when you are in reverse it will dump the air automatically...Should take a little more than 30 sec. to do this .

fanner,
My 2006 MADP dumped the air from the tag automatically while in reverse as soon as the button was pushed. My 2008 MADP does not and my 2004 MADP did not. I must hold the button down to dump the air.
Thanks, Daryl

From what I have been reading in past post there is no hard fast rule based on year/model. I was driving my 07 Essex home from service (see other post it has to do with tag axles) and verified a few things. The only way to dump the tag axle air is with the tag dump swith. It must be pushed and held to dump air if you let off the switch the bags will start to air back up.

sjcaldal11,
I'm not sure if I understand what you are saying. When I put my 06 DSDP in reverse and my new Tiffin 07 42QRP the rear tag air bags automatically dump. Open your driver's window and you will hear the air coming out of the system. You don't have to push the button in the reverse mode. If you are not in reverse you have to push the button to dump the air.

Hi Raca-roni,
My 2004 4301 MADP had no automatic reverse dump. You had to hold the switch down no mater what you were doing. MY 2006 4304 MADP had automatic dump when in reverse only. My 2008 MADP 4521 is just like the 2004 you have to hold the switch down no matter what.
I hope this helps, Daryl
