As promised, here's one sample of the many skill testing challenges that are a requirement of becoming and maintaining the Amogos status!

So, get a pen and paper to record your anwers. When you are done, post your picks. After we have a few good reponses we will reveal the correct answers.

Good luck!

1) You are driving your RV west on an interstate and are in need of a fuel stop. Your spouse looks up the locations of Flying J’s and finds one on the route at mile marker 139. You note the next mile marker is 112. You are currently driving at 60 MPH. At the current direction and speed, how long will it take to get there?

A) 27 minutes
B) 31 minutes
C) Forever

E) 39 minutes

2) You are driving your RV on a trip west. You see many large wind generators as you approach a wind farm. The three big bladed fans of each are perpendicular to your route allowing you to see the full width. All of the fans you are viewing ahead are turning counter clockwise. This may be a good indicator as to whether you will be getting better than normal fuel consumption or less during this section. How might this scenario affect the fuel your mileage.

A) Fuel mileage will go down

A) About 85.5 degrees
B) About 66.5 degrees
C) About 55.5 degrees
D) Exactly 45 degrees

5) You are temporarily lost on a back road while driving your RV to the west coast. It is too cloudy to determine if you are heading west and your compass is inoperative. You notice an aircraft passing overhead at a very low altitude. You then see a runway directly on your right as the plane passes overhead from your left to your right. It touches down on the runway stretching away from you to the right. You observe the numbers 27 on the concrete of the runway just about where the plane touched down. In what direction are you currently driving?

A) North
B) West
C) East
D) South

OOPS! I missed #19. I accidently hit the Amigos encription button which hence the blank between #18 and #20. So here it is.

19) Checking the pressure in all tires is done regularly by most, if not all, RV’ers. Over time they will need to be topped up as the pressures will decrease with loss of air. Why do all tires lose air over time?

A) The air becomes stale and shrinks
B) The air pressure should never go down in good tires and rims
C) Air leaks slowly out through the bead, where the tire meets the rim
D) Air leaks through the valve stem over time
E) Oxygen molecules pass through the tire’s lining over time

I will be on the road for the next few days, but will supply the answers soon. Get your guess in now!!

Well, seems like tylerdmoore is the only one brave enough to post his answers. We will post the answers for the first 5 questions and tylerdmoore got them all right

C) Forever
D) 28 minutes
E) 39 minutes

Answer:
(C) Forever. If you continue in the same direction, you will never reach it because you have already passed it. East/West interstates are always numbered from West to East. This means the mile marker numbers will always count down while travelling west and up when travelling east.

A) Fuel mileage will go down
B) Fuel mileage will go up
C) Fuel mileage will not be affected
D) Has no relation on fuel mileage

Answer:
(A) The fuel mileage will go down as a headwind is present. All the large wind mills have blades that turn clockwise when viewed from the front, there for, if you see it turning counter-clockwise you must be viewing it from the back, or the leeward side. So, if it is viewed turning to the right, the wind is behind you. If viewed as turning to the left, you have a headwind.

3) If you wanted to camp overlooking the body of water that boasts the highest tides in the world, what body of water would you be viewing?

A) Bay of Fundy
B) San Francisco Bay
C) Tampa Bay
D) The Gulf of St. Lawrence
E) Biscayne Bay

Answer: A) The Bay of Fundy located in Nova Scotia Canada has the highest recorded tide of upwards of 53 feet.

4) Many RV’ers travel to Alaska and wind their way north of Fairbanks to a point known as the Arctic Circle. How many degrees of latitude from the equator is this located?

A) About 85.5 degrees
B) About 66.5 degrees
C) About 55.5 degrees
D) Exactly 45 degrees

Answer: (B) The Arctic Circle is currently about 66.5 degrees north of the Equator. I say, currently, as the actual line moves slightly each year in a one hundred year cycle.

A) North
B) West
C) East
D) South
E) Information supplied does not provide a definitive answer

Answer: (D) All runways are numbered using their magnetic direction from each end. 27 is 270 degrees magnetic, or directly west. Therefore, if it is directly to your right, you are currently headed south.

Well that's the first five. We will post more later after we give some of you time to try your luck.

Hi Peter,
I am surprised by you. Everyone knows on a multiple choice test the answer "A" is rarely the correct answer. In addition having two consecutive questions with "A" being the correct answer is just not done. Is this done differently in Canada? Maybe it was the way I was brought up in the USA. However, this did help me get through college! Trick questions, Trick questions, whine, whine, whine.

I consulted me Ouija Board to verify the above comments.

Hey Gary, Canada eh! Well actually the position of the correct answer must be totally random and in doing so "A" has the same odds as any other position. Plus it fools some guys too!

I'm currently on the road but will post more A's later!

  • A) About 5000 watts
  • B) About 5350 watts
  • C) About 4225 watts

The key word here is "Now". 600 HP is all that can be purchased now and can not even be chipped up any higher. The 650 is gone for now.

Oh no, Tylerdmoore got one wrong. Yes number 15. However he is the "Man" with 14 out of 15 right!

Will he score the final 5 right???? Stay tuned!

So, here's the final 5 question answers. Did the tylerdmoore end with 19 over 20? The correct answers are bolded.

A) 1
B) 2
C) 3

17) The expression "Burning tons of fuel" for coach owners may not be wrong. How much fuel would you expect a highline Newmar diesel pusher would consume during an 8,000 mile trip?

A) 1 ton
B) 2 tons
C) 3 Tons
D) 4 Tons
E) More

18) This person, an avid cyclist, won the Bald Eagle Challenge XC Bike Race, the Big Dog Classic plus many other professional cycling challenges. Who is this Lance Armstrong like person?

B) Lane
C) Jetsmania
D) The Doc

20) A 30 amp campground power outlet delivers 30 amps @ 120 VAC. What does a full 50 amp output?
  • A) 60 amps @ 120 VAC
  • B) 50 amps @ 240 VAC
  • C) 50 amps @ 120 VAC
And....... what only an Amigo could do.........Here's number 19.

So did tylerdmoore get them all right???? To make him the bragging right champ?:d ance:

Well, no. He blew question #17. It takes a little more than 4 tons of fuel. I know, I did it. At very reasonable speeds it exceeeded 4 tons of diesel fuel.

But, he beat everyone with 18 out of 20. A million percent over the great non input of the rest of you. Hello........Is this thing on??????

Well thank for all the great input from all......... tylerdmoore

This weekend....Don't miss The 3 Amigos in Everglade City....One Night Only!!!
