The truth about ceiling height

We are interested in a MADP 4302 which we haven't seen in person yet. However, we were in a 2003 Dutch Star today and I noticed that the ceiling seems very low. The brochure for the Dutch Star says it's 78", but didn't seem that high. The brochure for the MADP 4301 says 80". Should I believe it? Does anyone know the actual ceiling height of the 2004 MADPs?

Hi 12amNSX,
Many things have changed since 2003. One is the height of the coach. Coaches in the "AIRE" line use all available height. Don't know what year you are looking at. The more recent coaches (14-present) are over 13' exterior height. I'd believe the 83" interior height. You will be pleased.

Thanks Gary! The MADP we are looking at is a 2004. My sister and brother in law who live close by the coach will go and check it out tomorrow. I live in a different state.

Hi 12amNSX,
The 04 MADP exterior height is 12' 3". So I'd be inclined to believe the 78-80" interior height.

Gary-I have a 2014 MA. Yesterday I measured my coach at the middle A/C unit. I laid a 10’ 2x4 across the high point of the cover and measured to the ground. I did air it up to the blow off point. I got only 12’ 6”. There is a pair of “soft” antenna up front that are maybe 4” taller. Sitting here thinking, I did not notice if the rear air foil of the rear cap is taller or even with the side valance.

I have found the interior and exterior dimensions stated in the Newmar brochures to be quite accurate. They don't play games with their measurements!

Hi TWINCAMSAM,
The older a coach gets the heavier it gets. Maybe your coach grew! :-)
Don't know how the measurements are taken, just reading the brochure.

I owned a 2003 DSDP and it was a great coach never a problem, A well maintained coach of that age will be great for someone looking for bullet proof well at least as bullet proof as a coach can get.

Brother in law measured the ceiling yesterday and it's 79" in the tiled area. Just 1" less than advertised.

You may find a lower ceiling in the slide from floor of it to its ceiling height, used to bang my head when working on slide wall space in older MH's may be higher in the new MH's, just be careful of the head.
