Hi Bill, I saw it a couple of weeks ago on another forum. It is shocking and I guess a concern for both the tire users and the dealers. I mean the dealers because this means they must check the dates of all tires received and make sure they rotate their stock. Additionally it will lead to "No stock" on some sizes that may not be that popular. No dealer would want to stock anything but popular sizes and brands. So, how does the manufacturer rotate their stock? My guess is, dealers are receiving near out of date tires on some of their orders.
Anyway, as a user, I check the dates on mine, both when I buy a vehicle and when I buy tires.
