Tire Inflation Issue Bay Star Sport 2903

I don't know if this is a common problem or if it just me but I have been having issues that I feel are dangerous.

Coming home from picking up my Bay Star Sport 2903 I found I had very low air in one front tire. Fortunately I always carry an air compressor. I filled the tire but had trouble getting air into it but finally it did fill. When I got home I found another tire low. Then while taking it in for an oil change for the generator the shop told me I had a flat tire on the outside of the driver side dual tire. Out of four outside tires I had one bad inflation core and two that were not tight. I find this dangerous but so easy to check by a good dealer.

I live in a small town and no one can take the inner duals off to see if the cores are secured. I can add and expel air though.

Is this normal? I would have thought this would have been found in the PDI. The unit was on their floor for four months so they had to continually add air.

I am disappointed in my selling dealer and concerned about the safety of the inner duals.

To add insult to injury I can't get the unit in to a Newmar dealer until October. I am afraid to drive it so I guess the summer camping season may be over for me. My first action may be winterization.

Any suggestions?

Phil

Why would you need to wait for a Newmar dealer to work on tires?

Phil, I would look for a good truck tire shop. Maybe even a Ford Truck dealer. They will have the equipment to address your possible valve stem issue. Don't yet give up on your summer of fun!

This is really your best option without a doubt. If a tire shop finds some problems with the tires to include installation, call CS at Newmar and have a copy of the tire shop invoice/report.

Phil, you don't need to take them to a dealer for tires. As stated, find a good truck tire shop and let them do the work for you.

Secondly, to give you peace of mind while traveling, invest in a TPMS. I use a TST 507 and I love it. It will warn you if you start to develop a leak, get a flat, or overheat a tire.

Good luck.

My wife and I were travelling last week between Edmonton and Calgary AB, when my TST TPMS alarmed. I almost had a heart attack. I immediately pulled over to the side of the road, and then went through the TST to find out what had caused the alarm. It looks like I had set the high pressure alarm too low, and it alarmed when one tire reached 130 psi. I found out the system works.
I never bother with checking my tires manually any more. But I cycle through the TST to make sure everything is OK and the pressures are all reading where I expect them to, before the wheels start to move in the morning.
Works for us.

I had the same problem, and it turned out to be the
valve stem core was bad. My tire would drop 30 lbs in
one month, and was hard to inflate.
