Tire patrol high pressure

On a trip last weekend I checked my tire pressures before departure and set my fronts at 105 psi. Tire patrol went up to 123 and 117 top end and it was concerning given we know that max cold tire pressure is 125. I called RVi they didn’t seem to think anything was wrong. My duals and tag stayed to close cold readings like +5 psi. Any thoughts?

I assume "tirepatrol" is an aftermarket TPMS system?
I would use a quality manual air pressure gauge to double check the TPMS.

The tire pressure will go up when hot.

The front tires are doing more "work" than the rears during cornering and braking.

Have you weighed each axle and looked up the proper tire pressure spec with the tire manufacturer?

As you are driving you will notice the tires on the sunny side will also be inflated.

I think there is a good deal of misunderstanding regarding tire pressure. Just because a tire carries a specification that shows a maximum cold pressure does not mean that ANY pressure exceeding that is somehow dangerous. That cold pressure specification is calculated KNOWING that the pressure will go higher than that as the tire heats up in normal use. The cold-pressure specification is simply a reference point.

Secondly, like all safety-related specifications, there is a great deal of tolerance built in. A reference to a certain pressure does not mean that as soon as it is exceeded, the tire will blow out. In fact, the rated value is very conservative.

What we should be looking for when reading our TPMS data is a significant variance between different tires. If all tires but one are reading about the same pressure and/or temperature and one is very significantly different, then it is time to find out why.

I looked back that if you filled 105 psi at 65degrF outside temp, so cold also inside temp, that 123 psi means 140 degrF in the tire.
Front might get that hot by heat of brakes, and cooling down is less because more hidden in wheelcover then rear.

But can simply also mean that more deflection of tires, because loads on tires more then pressure is ideal for.
For vehicles with a TAG axle , you can fix this 2 ways.
1. Simply highen up cold pressure, to give lesser deflection, so colder inside tire temp. Warm pressure then can end up even higher then the 123 degr.

2nd way is to lower the suspension pressure of tag.
Then weight on tag and front tires gets less and drive axle more weight. Then you have to review the pressure advices.

To be sertain of weights on axles, or better axle-ends, you have to weigh the vehicle fully loaded as you go on trips.
Estimating is dangerous.

Perfectly normal. On my 2015 DS front tires rise about 15 psi while driving, rears rise about 10 psi. You can expect to see higher in the summer on hot roads, etc. All limits are referenced to cold inflation pressure. Happy travels!

My steer axle tires are inflated to the exact same psi. It is rare that they don't rise close to 120psi after being on the road for awhile in warmer temps. Depending on which side the sun could be hitting us on, I can easily see a few psi difference between left and right plus temp variances.

I don't think the op has anything to worry about unless his front steer axle weight calls for a different cold psi in the first place.

Thanks

Thanks for all replies. I have weighed all four corners and use the Michelin guide as my reference to set the cold psi. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something because I just switched to Tire Patrol which Is made by RVi since I have the RVi braking system in the toad.

If the concern is if Tire Patrol is accurate - next time the tires are warmed up, check the pressure with a good handheld mechanical gauge soon after stopping.

I suspect they are working fine.
