To Invert or Not to Invert - That is the question!
When you are plugged into shore power, do you leave the inverter on or do you turn it off?

I called Magnum years ago. Leaving on does not hurt at all, at least this way, one less thing to remember.

For most of folks it is also the battery charger and keeps them topped up so you would leave it on.
On our rig a number of the outlets also only work through the inverter in "pass through mode" so we would be running without them with it off. It doesn't hurt anything so I leave it on.

leaving it on also means that, should shore power go down, the inverter will continue to feed power to whatever is on. There could be dead batteries when you return.

I always enable AGS when I'm using the coach, so that's not an issue for me.

I just recently installed a residential fridge in my MH. Question, can I run the inverter driving the MH down the road. Mine is a Freedom 458, I'm told it is a MSW type inverter. My MH has two solar panels on the roof, will they keep the batteries charged while sitting with no shore power?

Yes you can leave your fridge running while traveling down the road. Between the solar panels and your engine alternator you should never be draining your batteries. The only change I usually make is to turn off the ice maker when driving, as that will usually be your single biggest draw.
Some fridge manufacturers say that a rough road is hard on the compressor, so if you know you'll be doing some of that, you could turn it off just for those situations.

We leave our fridge inverter on so if the power goes out, the fridge will keep running. We can run it for three days or so on our 3 Battle Born batteries. Never had the power go out but then again, we haven't been in California in a while...
We do turn the TV inverter off. Easy enough to turn it on if we need to.
As for running the inverter going down the road, that should be fine. If everything is wired correctly, the alternator should keep the batteries charged as you drive, essentially powering the fridge as well. Even if that's not the case, the solar should help and unless you're driving all day and/or have a very small battery bank, the batteries should be good until you get hooked up. YMMV.

When ever you have shore line plugged in or driving down road you leave your inverter/converter on and the BCO switch on your using your coach.

I've had three coaches with an inverter, since 2005. I never turned any of them off in all that time. With that said, my coach is plugged in 24/7/365 (except when boondocking) and I don't have to winterize.

Following..... I never turn mine on unless I知 boondocking.
What am I missing?
Propane can kick in for the fridge.

As long as you have propane, your technique works great. Those of us that have electrical only refrigerators have to use other options.

You're missing the fact that most all the newer coaches are all electric with no propane. The residential fridge only runs on electric, so when the coach is unplugged, the fridge has to run off battery power. That's the reason for 8 batteries (6volt). Our inverter stays on 24/7. The initial reason for me was so I don't have to keep resetting the microwave clock.
