Toad braking system - do you use one?

Just wanted to know if you use a braking system on your toad? NOT WHICH KIND. Reasons to use one, reasons not to use one.

I do use one.

Thanks.......Survey says?

Yes. For safety and some states require them. Only reason not to is to save money. Now if your not sure which car you might be towing or want to tow in the near future I guess you could go with a Patriot or similar portable unit the sits on the floor in front of the drivers seat. I actually have a nice one I can sell you if interested if you want to PM me.

Yes I do use one.

1) Safety … helps me stop sooner.
2) Keeps me legal in the states that do require one to be used and I don't have to worry about keeping up with which ones they are.
3) Hopefully minimizes my personal liability if ever in an accident (especially a toad break-away) and was found to not have one in use.
4) And some supplemental information - I use a BrakeBuddy unit as we tow both vehicles we own and can switch it back an forth based on which one we take.

Have one don't use it much, air brakes on the Journey will put you through the W/S with the toad hooked up. JMHO

Personal peace of mind.
Required by law in some provinces and states I pull the toad in.

Bought my first motorhome in 1974. I have never had a toad brake system. However, I do believe they are a good idea. If you feel better having one, go for it.

Absolutely use a toad braking system. All the reasons have been previously mentioned. Only reason not to use one is one wants to become very familiar with the legal system in case one has an accident. And of course there is the cost of the unit.

Yes, for all the reasons posted, above, especially for the breakaway protection.

The most important to me is a break away function.

Those who don't use a braking system with their towed vehicle are playing with fire. Everything is fine...until it isn't. And, when it "isn't," the result can be devastating.

Be responsible; use a braking system with your towed vehicle.
