Toilet help please.

Newbie here needs help. We have an Allstar 4156. Just a few short trips under our belts. And we are not very mechanical yet. We were planning a local three night trip with our twin sons (8 yrs old) and the local rv shop had our rig in to fix the broken toilet.

The toilet is a Thetford Tecma. It had a broken nozzle. They replaced the nozzle and we picked up our RV today. The toilet no longer works as a bidet--but still will not flush.

Tonight after looking at a PDF troubleshooting guide on the Thetford website, I fear that the broken peice of the old nozzle is stuck in the macerator (p. 10 of the troubleshooting guide).

Clearly I will not use this local RV shop since they do not seem to be competent. But my boys are so disappointed and so am I.

Is there any way that my husband can dislodge this broken piece from the macerator if this is the problem--the troubleshooting guide says to contact Thetford.

We were going to leave tomorrow for a long weekend.

Thanks for any help.

Sad Mama :-(

First remove all power... Then if you found it, How did you find it?

If you can reach it with a pick up tool, then it is possible you can pull it out

If, however, it's damaged the macerator.. Contact the company for warranty (if it applies) replacement.

In fact if warranty applies... Contact the company first.

I haven't had a macerator before but I know that some units are more permanently attached then others. Maybe you have remove the macerator without too much effort and find out if there is something stuck in it. If the macerator doesn't function, you could just use a sewer hose to dump your tanks at the end of your trip.

Thanks guys--for trying to help. But, like I said I'm a newbie, so I wasn't quite sure where to start. I found a Thetford authorized repair person in Carterville Il (about 100mi from me) that is confident he can fix the thing for me today. Hubby is driving it down there. We will lose only one day of our long weekend, if we're lucky.

He told hubby that the broken piece of the valve is probably stuck in the "impeller". Probably an easy fix. Wish we had a good Newmar dealer for repairs around here.

BTW--this is a warranty issue.

Thanks for trying!

Have a great weekend.

Travelbug: Glad to hear that you are not missing out on a weekend of camping. You'll soon forget the incident and enjoy your coach.
