Tow Dolly problem

I posted this on the Towing forum and no replies came in. So I thought I would pass it on to my Newmar Family since they have helped me out on several issues.

I just bought a used tow Dolly from a private party. It is a little old, (TowBlazer brand) and it is heavy duty and in good condition. The interior width on the wheel pans go to about 80", and the dollie's fenders are about 84" apart. I just put a Honda Odyssy Van on the Dolly (it is about 78" to the outside wheels) and when I took it down the street and turned left, the "skid pan" turned and made several loud metallic clicks as it rotated on the kingpin. Then the fenders on the Dolly started to press against the quarter panels on the car. My question is, is it normal to expect a loud clicking noise as the skid pan (or whatever it is called) rotates on the kingpin in the middle of the dolly, and do you think my car is too wide for this Dolly and any other Dolly I would purchase? This is my first time towing a car on a tow Dolly, and we are a week away from a long trip. Any help from experienced Dolly owners and their Brands would be appreciated. And a toad is not an option for me at this time.

Not an expert, but I wouldn't imagine the sound to be normal. There was a large plastic washer between the pivoting part and the fixed part on mine. Is there one on yours? You may want to check the manufacturer's manual to make sure there are no parts missing.

It is not a normal sound based on the dolly we used in the past. Is there a way to lube the pin rotation point?
