Trade Value

I have a 2015 Canyon Star 3921 Toy Hauler with 12k miles on it. We paid $141k for it. What should I expect for a real trade value. I can get the new DS for $309k with no trade.

I will use Nada Guides for RVs for reference but the reality is that if you want a fast process you are going to have to use Dealers and they are not going to loose money.
It all comes down to what is your time worth. Selling to a third party is the approach that will prevent you for loosing the most. Not matter motorhomes are NOT investments so you should be prepare for out of package money.

Frank from what I have been seeing on the market and knowing what a few 2104 Canyon Star 3610's went for I would expect you may get as high as the low to mid 130's, when doing it as a trade in. I have been offered what I paid for mine(less tax/license fees) on a private sale even though we aren't in the market. It all depends on the market at the time you bought, how good they were dealing then, and how much the new ones have went up in MSRP.

To estimate trade in value at a dealer: Take the NADA low retail value for your rig (don't check anything off) and then subtract 20%. It's painful, but close to the black book value that dealers and banks use.

What you may gain in sale amount by selling privately you may lose in additional taxes on the sale of the new RV. Something to consider
