Trailer hitch receiver make.....?

Could anyone please tell me what is the make of the receiver hitch that Newmar is putting on their Coach's? I am just wondering who they use or if the chassis comes with a hitch already on the frame when Newmar gets it from the chassis mfg.

I can look on mine and send you a message in the am.
I think the best answer would be that it is engineered into the chassis by Spartan.

OK , if you could look and see what make of receiver you have , that would be a start for me. On my Mountain Aire there is a Putnam receiver that I believe Spartan put on the chassis when new, I think Putnam is no longer in business....... Just wondering what is coming on the Spartan chassis Newmar is using.

Hi palehorse89,
The answer is, it all depends. Gas or Diesel? Standard diesel or luxury diesel? Year of coach. EXDP and KADB have 15K rated hitches and Spartan chassis. MADP has a 15K rated hitch (2014 models) and a Freightliner chassis. Your 2000 might be 10K. Ventana & Dutch Star have 10K (I think) rated hitch and Freightliner chassis. The gas models hitch ratings are around 5K and Freightliner chassis. On top of that Newmar does change component manufacturers during model year runs. While it is the chassis manufacturer's responsibility, Newmar approves or makes changes to chassis components from time to time.

Any answer you receive will be a very brief snapshot in time and for that model only.

Hey Pale,

That's probably correct, although I'm not sure what a KADB is, We have a KGDB, maybe it's a new model we haven't heard of. If you're worried about hitch strength, come on out to the ranch here in Colorado, we'll weld you up something, We're pulling ripper teeth thru decomposed granite on our dozers with no failures. Probably can get you enough strength for a TOAD and your Harley's. But you always have to get frame mfg's approval before you modify an existing frame.

Hi nforus,
Not sure if you are being sarcastic or really mean you couldn't figure out what KADB meant. I've seen the King Aire acronym, spelled KGDB and KADB. Until your post I did not know there was an official way for the acronym to be spelled. Hopefully, you'll forgive a lowly KSDP (Kountry Star Diesel Pusher for the highline folks who might not know the acronym) owner for the miss-step.

I for one have always wondered what the letters meant, they do not seem to follow as the others do, like mine MADP , easy to understand, but what does the KADB mean?
What make of hitch is on that Behemoth King Aire?

There is no KADB. There is a KADP; Kountry Aire Diesel Pusher.

The King Aire is a KGDB, King Aire Diesel Bus.

UPDATE:
Called Spartan tonight, The receiver was installed as requested by Newmar for "car towing" purposes only, if I am under the chassis GCWR I am good to go to the class 4 receiver. As long as I stay within the numbers provided I am ok to upgrade to a class 4 receiver. The gentleman said "it is all about the numbers" and as long as you stay within them you can do as you please.

That makes sense as Newmar and all the other MH manufacturers order chassis's to their own individual specs.

Back in that time frame a 5K hitch was quite common.

The one thing I am having trouble with is finding one that will work , I have talked to a rep. at Curt Mfg. , not to much help. My receiver now is bolted on, by design, tight to the frame rails where it bolts on with no drop, my bolt holes on each frame rail are 6" apart, 3 on each rail. Can someone with a newer Coach(Newmar) with a class 4 or 5 hitch tell me the brand of hitch and the model number. I would like to find a close replacement in height as the receiver that is on there now comes through the rear flap and I don't want to have to change the flap if I don't have to.

Hi palehorse89,
I hope this helps.

Our coaches are both on Mountain Master chassis. My receiver is:
Hidden Hitch
64-6112 (not made any more)
10K max towing weight
1K max tongue weight
SAE J-684

The receiver is bolted to brackets that are bolted to the frame rails. One can view Hidden Hitch and their products at Trailer Hitches - Hidden Hitch

Thank you so much Gary for the time to post this info. for me, I sure would like to get one that fit without a bunch of customizing and rear flap replacement.
