Talking Transfer switch

I have a 2008 Essex with a model ITS-50R transfer switch. We were getting ready for dinner and used the micro-wave and a toaster oven at the same time and after about 30 seconds the two items stopped working along with the TV's. I assumed I had blown a circuit breaker. No breakers were triped. I looked on the multiplex indicator and noticed that leg 1 had no volts and leg 2 had 122 volts indicated. I checked the outside hookup where I have a surge protector and the lights were on indicating the supply of power to the coach. I suspected the transfer switch had tripped. I decided to start the generator to see if the power would transfer and it did transfer. The indicator had 122volts on both legs. Then I stopped the generator and again the power transferred back to the shore power. Have not had the problem again, but have not tried the two appliances together.

Anyone had the same type problem.

Had the exact same problem. I had put my coach in the repair shop and that was among the list of issues. It took them several attempt to duplicate the problem, but it finally failed and was traced to the transfer switch. Replaced it and all has been fine since.
Good Luck

I would make sure that the surge protector is passing voltage to the transfer switch.

We had a similar situation where the 50 amp Progressive EMS display was showing correct voltage coming in but it would not pass it thru to the TS. Thinking that the problem was the TS, called a mobile repair and after a $270 bill, disconnected the Progressive and connected directly to the TS. everything worked.

The Iota ITS-50R transfer switches have known problems (my understanding from searching the web on this subject is the wires loosen up and sometimes cause fires), several manufacturers have recalled them and I believe Newmar has a program to replace them. I'd call Newmar tech support and see what they say. I believe they are using the Progressive Dynamics PD5200 Series nowadays, that's what they put in my coach manufactured in Feb. 2008.
