Trantorque Bushing

Trantorque Bushing

i have read trough most of the threads concerning the Trantorque Bushing. I am able to break it loose to a point where the nut will turn by hand about a 1/4 turn but thats it.

Why wont the nit thread off? Other than beating it with a hammer how do i get it to release?

DO NOT TRY TO THREAD IT OFF! The Transtorque unit will break.
You only need to loosen the nut and then the shaft should slip.

I wish I could be more help but I have never actually removed one of mine. My only knowledge on the subject has been from listening to others that have worked on theirs.

Good Luck

I have taken mine out. I took and loosened it up till it stopped. I then took a wrench and put a little pressure on the nut but not too much as you can break it. I then took a hammer and hit the barrel and it released. This works like a collet and gets wedged in tight a little back pressure and hitting it several times around where the sleeve goes in should do it .

I loosened mine as well to try and adjust the slide. Of course trying to get it to release from the rod I backed the nut out too far.

So since the subject seems to come up a bit more often these days, does the groove on the three pieces go in first or towards the backside closest to the 1 1/2 inch nut?

I read all the threads on the trans torque bushing and would not feel comfortable to tackle the problem. Wish that someone knowledgeable would post a step by step sequence with pictures.

I replaced the motor on the main slide on our '02 DSDP. It wasn't too hard to do. Turns out the motor wasn't bad afterall.

Here is my take on the subject. My LR slide motor / gearbox broke with a bang. It normally is NOT a bad motor, since the motor is protected by the over-current sensor. It is the cheap gears that break.
Newmar fixed the slide, I only paid for it again.
Please correct me it if I'm wrong.

We had a problem involving the torque clutch and I called Newmar. They supplied me with detailed directions on how to loosen the nut, make the adjustment and then torque the nut back to the proper torque level.

My suggestion is: if you are interested, go right to Newmar and get the REAL scoop!!
