Traveling Pet Companions, Cats, Dogs, or None

Just wondering what type of pets everyone travels with, or if you prefer not to travel with pets. Ours is two cats which has it’s positives and negatives. First the bad. They tend to scratch so you pretty well have to cover your leather furniture. They will stop the scratching if you provide them with a scratching post or other alternative. The cat litter tends to stick to their paws and ends up up being scattered around the coach. We have installed a Dyson vacuum in our bedroom closet and this works great for cleaning up the litter and just general clean up around the coach. Now the good. They sleep 12 to 18 hours a day. Don’t have to worry about taking them out during bad weather or extended time away from the coach to use the bathroom. They are quiet and no problems with them disturbing others in the park or someone parked next to you. Just some thoughts from others about their pets as travel companions or prefer not to travel with pets.

Yes, they will scratch even though I've tried to keep the seating covered.

No, Japanese Bobtails. Right now I have three plus two "regular" rescue cats.

We prefer to travel without dogs or cats. Over the years when we were in the market for a used RV we passed on several because we could detect pet odors inside. We just feel like an RV is about 400 square feet of space that is just right for 2 adults.

That's what makes the world go around, Joe...different strokes for different folks.

There would be no way to keep my dog (or the one before) out of our MH. They have loved it. New sights, smells, sounds and adventure. Honestly, I always have my dog leashed.

Being 1/2 beagle his nose gets the better of him and he'd be gone in a shot but open up that MH door and he is right in there.

We had to buy a bigger coach to better accommodate our Dooddles. [emoji57][emoji41]

We travel with a 15 year old Italian Greyhound and a 19 year old Main Coon Cat. Greyhound has to ride in a crate, as roads and long skinny legs lead to issues. Cat sleeps up on bedroom slide while we are moving. Both do very well.

I don't go anywhere without my English Springer Spaniel and my Newfoundland! Going to try bringing my two Eclectus parrots on the next trip!
