The feature is called "inverter assist-mode", and was a standard feature with the PCS power management system on my coach. I do have the upgraded firmware, but that was to resolve the compatibility with the BMK and AGS modules. Inverter assist worked with the factory release.
Great Tip!!!!

Thanks

It was my understanding that the batteries would charge from the alternator. My inverter will be on for the refrigerator.

It makes no difference whether your converter is ON or OFF when traveling with the generator OFF.....because a converter does nothing unless it sees 120VAC power from the generator.... (or from a shore power receptacle).

Our first mh a 1989 Itasca Spirit, did not have a generator or roof top ac. We traveled in late Spring Summer, never stayed in a park and the batteries gave us no trouble. Never used 120v because it was not available unless plugged in to shore power. Funny thing is we never were aware of being deprived. Simplicity has a quality all its own.
