Turn signal beeping?

I have searched this forum and not found my answer, so here it goes. I have a 2000 DS DP 3851 and when a turn signal is activated, it beeps crazy loud. The DW, myself, and especially Tank (our Labradoodle), all can't stand the beeping. Is this a warning of sorts that a bulb is out? A friend with a '01 Mt. Aire said his signals were quiet until their last trip and his started beeping. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

I had a 2001 Dutch Star and my turn signals beeped so loud I thought I was driving a Buick.

When You Change Lanes And Don't turn It Off It Is a Reminder.

I understand the reminder part. All vehicles have some sort of reminder, whether it be a flashing light, clicking, or a "mild" beeping. This thing sounds like Defcon 5. To re-word my question, is it normal? rewahoo's experience say's yes, anybody else?

Our '04 KSDP/Freightliner will give loud warning beeps only after it has been on for 45 sec. or so. I believe it is, as previously stated, a reminder. If you are referring to that beep it is not normal immediately.

What you seem to be experiencing is just one of the issues I had last year with my rig on a return trip home. They ended up changing out the electronics/wiring unit in the steering column.

My problem started with a warning about the ABS system when trying to stop. Then when I put on my turn signal, it almost immediately started the loud beeping. Getting back on the interstate, I then found out my cruise control did not work.

I'm thinking a burned out bulb. possibly at side marker position? If front and rears work.

Our 2002 MADP has a very loud turn signal indicator. There are no lights out. It just lets us know it is on. It was too loud for me. I went under the dash and located the device that creates the beeping. I covered half the outlet hole with electricians tape to the desired noise level and it is much better. Cheap fix and it will now gently remind me if I have left my turn signal on.

To clarify, mine was loud from the get-go. There was no increase in volume if I failed to turn it off after a lane change.

Stew,

I have the same year and model Dutch Star. Our turn signal beeper is very loud also... and piercing to the point we have both complained about it.

We assumed that it was loud to warn anyone in the length of coach of a turn...

It should be a beeper module under the dash that could be replaced with a more pleasant tone beeper... like a "chime' ; however, I haven't looked for a replacement yet, and am getting somewhat used to it.

The suggestion by SteveR161 is a good one that I have used before, on other vehicles. "...I went under the dash and located the device that creates the beeping. I covered half the outlet hole with electricians tape to the desired noise level...."

Thanks for all of the replies. Everything electronic works fine (as far as I can tell, I am new to this DP). I am going to double check all the signal bulbs and if they are working, the electricians tape over the beep device sounds like the way to go. Thanks again.

I like stever161's idea. Our 2000 MADP is rediculously loud.
