Turning Off Residential Refrigerator

I have a 2019 Bay Star with a Whirlpool residential refrigerator. We have a Xantrex inverter dedicated to the refrigerator and one dedicated to the entertainment systems. During our PDI I asked a bunch of questions, but I forgot to ask the tech how to turn the refrigerator off between trips. I do have a 30 amp RV plug at the house and keep the rig plugged in to keep the batteries charged, but I’d like to turn the refrigerator off between trips.

I searched through quite a few threads but didn’t stumble upon anything, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Not sure what model you have, but on mine you hold the two outside buttons down and it goes into demo mode.

You can just turn it off at the 110 volt circuit breaker. For us, we take the coach out, on average, about once a month, so we leave the refer on with sodas and condiments left inside. It's also useful for storing food if you don't have room in the house, like during a party.

Thanks Don, that was my guess so I’ll check it out. I figured I’d leave it on during our travel season but wanted have to have it figured out before winter.

Get the model number of the fridge off the nameplate (should be inside on one wall). Go to the Whirlpool web site and download the manual. It will probably tell you more than you want to know.

be careful. if you turn the refrigerator circuit breaker off the inverter may try to power the refrigerator. this will depend on the make of the inverter, how it is wired to the refrigerator, and whether then inverter itself is on or off. you are probably safer turning the circuit breaker off AND turning the inverter off.

On our 2017 BS I just use the circuit breaker in the bathroom. Right top cabinet. Breaker is marked (in our rig) as Refer. In our rig as I recall it is 2nd from bottom on right side of the breaker panel.

Thank you everyone. When I have time after work I’m going to grab the manual for the refer and inverter and look for the circuit breaker.

As always, you all are a great help.

Our 16cf Whirlpool just has a temperature control dial on the inside with Off as the lowest setting. However you do it, make sure to prop the doors open, otherwise mold will grow quickly. And leave some towels in the bottom to soak up any water from the freezer defrosting in case the drains don't work right or are plugged.

On our coach the circuit breaker is in the rear closet which is difficult to access when slides are in so I added this. Velcro-ed the remote next to the frig and it makes it very easy to turn it on/off. I was able to access the power plug for the frig through an outside access panel.
