Anyone know where/how to tap into the O/H speakers on a 2000 DSDP 3859? Just installed a new front TV and would love to use the O/H speakers as part of the TV "audio visual" experience.
TIA,
Greg

Mine used the TV audio output to input audio to the in-dash AM/FM/CD player via a Sony audio control installed under the dash. One then selected AUX on the AM/FM/CD player and the TV audio was routed to the house speakers. The AM/FM/CD player controlled the volume.
I think we discussed this very subject in another thread just a couple of weeks ago. Try a search and see if that answers your questions. If not I can give more info here.
I did a quick search and found the thread that I am referring to: Tv sound over ceiling speakers?

If you have this unit or something similar you maybe able to work your ceiling speakers through a AUX input from your TV.
The spk's will work for amplification through your radio as they do now.
If you go to Quick Tips you will find more info.

Yep...I saw that thread too. But since my Stereo is not a Sony (it is an alpine), the info did not apply. I guess I should have posted my question in that thread.

I saw something like that under the dash up against the front wall. Was not sure how it was controlled through. Did not see a volume or switch on it like yours.
I will have to look at what Alpine model it is and take a closer look at my control unit.

Someone may have changed the radio... maybe they left the control unit under the dash... worth a check.
Well, now that I think of it, since you have an Alpine, even if the unit is there it may not be compatible with Alpine.
The 2000 version of the control unit looks differnt than the one 007 mentioned. The 2000 is like the photo I posted in the subject link.

The vol is for headset. Vol for spk's would be through radio.

Also, on my set-up I have to use the Menu on the TV and switch from TV Speakers to Aux. Speakers (or something like that).

It must be somewhat compatible since my dash stereo comes through on the O/H speakers...
I will pull the control unit tonight and check it out.
