After installing the digital converter box I get little or no reception after going through the scan mode. Some places, I don't get any reception, but everyone has there antenna up, so they must be getting something. Any sugestions

Make sure your antenna booster switch is on. Also be sure both your TV and the converter box are on the same channel, usually 3 or 4.

Where did you install your converter... I will give you two choices

Antenna - - - Converter - - - Something with the word WINEGARD on it - - - TV

That is simply wrong and will not work

Antenna - - - Winegard Box - - - - converter - - - TV

That will work.. However there may be another issue depending on your digital converter (If the digital converter has analog pass through, no problem)

NOTE: you need one converter per TV.

If you could not decode what wa8xym said, don't feel bad, I couldn't either.
The most common reason for no signal is having connected the converter to the wrong cable(s). The roof top antenna cable runs to either a power supply with a push button/slide on/off switch or directly to your push button selector box. If the box is what supplies power to the antenna (there will be an on/off button and a red LED) then you cannot connect the converter where it says Antenna in. Instead, you must connect a jumper to one of the TV output (out to TV1, out to TV2, etc) and run that to the converter and the cable you disconnected from the push button box to the converter. This will give digital to that TV only. You can add a splitter AFTER the converter and connect the cable(s) to the other TV(s) and you will get digital on all of your TV's but they will all get the same channel the one converter is set to. If you want different channels on different TVs then you need multiple converters.

Welcome to the world of WORSE reception ala digital. The old analog was much more forgiving about the aim of the antenna. Digital is finicky to the nth degree. One compass degree can be the difference between 20 or more stations or NONE. Even at the stks and bricks with a serious roof antenna there can be variations from 4 am to 4pm that would never have occured with analog! Keep trying.

While I can't explain it, when we were in Las Vegas at the Circus Circus KOA campground, every time one of the sightseeing helicopters flew over our digital OTA TV signal would start to pixelate. Now what sense does that make? That never would have happened with analog and I can't begin to explain why it happens with digital but it was such a regular event that we were absolutely able to confirm that this was the event that was causing the problem.
Digital (or maybe UHF) is very different than what we have had to deal with in the past so what you "used to know" may no longer apply.

WIth analog the signal started out good, but as you got farther and farther from the station it got worse and worse and finally dissappeared

With digital it starts out studio quality. and as you get farther and farther it STAYS studio quailty till suddenly it starts to break up and almost immed dissappears.

In the Las Vegas case.. The signal was marginal, when the 'copter went over it droped into the "Pixelated" range.

As for the "Aim".. It all has to do with signal strength and frequency.. For one thing the antennas tend to be more direcitonal at higher frequency, for another a station that may have ran 50,000 watts in days of old may only be pushing 5,000 now.

I used to do analog/digital compairisons using my radios and computers.. And I can tell you that I"ve had ONE, just ONE overseas (North Scotland) Chat on analog radio.

I've had quite a few all the place on digital

I run 100 watts (200 Peak) on analog, and aroudn 30 most of the time on digital

Same radio, Same exact antenna.

Though the difference between television and voice/text is not quite as dramatic. It is still there. Digital really is better.. But they still have not got it right.

If you add one of these Wingman Ant to your bat wing ant you will be happy.
Best thing I ever did for improved reception. Didn't even have to raise antenna while in Nappanee.

Welcome to the Newmar forum & irv2 by the way.
