The 2006 came with analog tvs and I would like to replace either the mid or front unit with an HD TV, but after looking, very briefly, It's not obvious how to get either one out, has anyone changed either and can shed some light?

JRV you may have mounts already for new HDLCD's most mounts will have a pin that locks mounting for tilting and mount bar for removal from fixed mount on wall. You may have to remove wood surround to get at it. The surround may have wood buttons on face that can be removed to get at screws. The surround could be held on cabinet face with screws inside a cabinet that screw into a slot insert board that will come out as you remove wood surround.
If no one else has sure answer for you give Newmar repair a call and maybe they can help.

The one in the front has a grill behind it between the windshield and back. You have to pry it off and you can reach in and change it out. I have a Sony HD LCD in mine now. Left the grill off when done.

Thanks 007 & AK,
I am getting ready for a back operation on Friday and haven't been doing much bending and twisting which seems to be a standard for working on anything inside.

I called Newmar and talked to Carl who stated that there are wooden plugs on either the front or in the adjacent cabinets from the side. I do not see any evidence of a plug at either location and it appears the shade would have to be removed from the back and the 2 grills would have to be removed to access removing the TV, what am I missing? Also Carl said you don''t have to go in from the back?

Do you have a frame around the front one? I looked in both side cabinets and front and no plugs, screws or anything from the original one. I have mine mounted on a home made bracket that I screwed to the sides and then slide the TV in and screwed from the back. That's why the grills facing the windshield had to come off. Also, you'll need to do that anyway to run new RGB cables or HDMI cable if you want HD.
You don't have to remove the shade./ But mines a 4503.

Mine does not have a frame it's mounted directly on the face of the overhead console.

That's why I think it is bolted in from behind.
