Universal Remote Option

Who decided to go with the universal remote option why or why not.

Are you happy with your decision.

If you did not go with it. What do you use?

I got the universal remote on my first Newmar. Never did figure out how to use it. My Dish remote does everything except access the Sony TV menu. And I use the BD remote to run the disc player. The universal is quite complicated if you ask me. And I use the Sony remote to acquire over the air channels and switch from Cable to antenna inputs.

I second the "never did figure out how to use it". Overly complex for my meager abilities. I just use multiple remotes. Save your money on that one.

Is it something mounted on the wall, or just a universal remote like a Harmony remote?

Harmony as well. I thought they were pretty easy to program - PROVIDED your equipment is supported. It will not work very well with older components if you have to program the specific buttons from one remote to another. That happened to me a long time ago with probably one of the original Harmony products. Since then, they have performed flawlessly from programing to daily use. Good product.

Harmony 650 is the best I have seen. Easy to program and easy to use. About $45 on eBay.
