Hi folks, my first post.
I recently bought a used Dutch Star in great condition -- it was obviously well cared-for. I got a good price for it primarily because of one unknown... the mileage!
The previous owner replaced the speedometer and it was never properly set up. I got it with an uncalibrated VDO speedometer registering "170" miles and at freeway speeds it would read about
10mph.
Well a little google searching and on the drive back from buying it, I got the speedometer
calibrated. It now knows what 1 mile is so the odometer counting is accurate, and it also
registers the correct speed (for comparison, it matched a portable GPS)
It has a cummins C8.3-300 engine and an Allison transmission.
My question: Does anyone know if there's a way to get the actual mileage or an approximation
from the transmission or engine somehow?
Thanks!
Mike
p.s. thanks so much for all the info that's been added to this forum -- it has helped immensely
and I hope to add to it

Mike506, WELCOME to iRV2.
You have the mechanical Cummins, so there is no data stored.
Perhaps service records or inspection records have the mileage recorded.

I have the silverleaf VMSPC software that reads the computer from the engine. One of its gauges will show lifetime mileage, fuel usage, and MPG. I would call them to se if your engine will work.
