Upgrading our rear view camera

My latest project in our 2004 Newmar Mountain Aire:

I wanted to supplement my 15 year old proprietary rear view camera that used to connect to a 15 year old, obsolete Panasonic dash stereo with a flip-up screen (removed and replaced with a modern Pioneer single DIN stereo) and bought a 7" Pyle monitor, mounted above the driver's seat, with two RCA video inputs and a 720p camera with RCA video output from Amazon. One RCA video input comes from the old camera (with embedded output from the Trip-Tec computer), the other input from the new camera. So, I had to run a video and 12vdc from the front entertainment cabinet over the driver's seat to the back of the coach.

As long as I did that, I decided to run a new RG6 coax cable, HDMI cable and a network cable to the bedroom TV for updated capabilities as long as I was fishing cable.

I went from the front cabinet, through the boxed-in valance over the driver's side window, up above the ceiling, past a ceiling speaker to a A/C duct vent. Then through the duct to the back of the bedroom, out the duct through a A/C vent to above the ceiling to the bedroom TV cabinet. From there, the video and 12vdc went through the bedroom closet, out the closet, back to the engine compartment and to the rear engine hatch.

I also ran a 12vdc cable from the entertainment cabinet down to a new switch on the dash to turn on/off the new camera and monitor.

It took weeks with a cocktail in hand to work out the path for the cables, but it works great!Click image for larger version
