Exclamation Urgent Water Pump Help

Prepping for my trip from NC to AZ next week and came across of big issue. Was disinfecting my water via the winterizing pipe as I always have done and now my water pump is NOT working. Panic is setting in, so I need some advice to help me get this back working again. I turn on the pump with the filler pipe in bleach and all I get is a medium humming sound. No hunt of it trying to work at all.

I know after my last trip I ran the fresh tank dry with shore water hooked up and pump running (dah). It made a gurgling\spitting noise for the last part of my trip before I figured out what I had done. I put water in the tank and restarted the pump and all was fine.

Help!!

Have you hooked up a water hose to get the air out of the pipes ?? I had a issue that the pump would work sometimes then nothing, then start working when it was on the city hookup. Ended up replacing the pump no more problems. It was 14yrs old so it was due to be replaced.

I had water hooked up in shore fill and winterize inlets, but I never turned water on to drain until later. Let me go back and try that? Thanks!

Check the position of the City Water / Tank Valve. If the Valve is in the City Water position the pump will run but only a trickle of water will come out of the bathroom vanity faucet. And none will come out of the kitchen faucet. The water is pumped right back into the tank. I had it happen to me the last time I sanitized my water system. Even if the Valve position looks right, switch it to the other position and try it.

I expelled all outlets of air, tried again and still same low\medium hum.

No matter which position I put the city water valve this is the results. No pumping of anything.

Something I just noticed and I'm not sure if its relevant, but when I am checking battery without anything running it reads 13.1v or so. When I turn on the pump it falls down to 10-11 and jumps back to low 12 and maybe bounces to high 11s. Last week I installed my seelevel tank sensors on opposite end of bay from waterpump. Hopefully I tied all wires back together right.

Unless anyone else has an idea for my to try I guess my next option is to buy a new one. Called CW and they have a 4.0gpm surflo they swore would work? Any thoughts of sureflo vs remco, vs ????

With the voltage dropping like that my guess would be the pump is seized.
If you have a 12V. battery handy you could wire the battery directly to the pump to confirm the pump is bad. If need be, drive your lawn tractor, mower or even your car next to the pump bay and jump the wires from the battery to the pump. Jumper cables would work.

Straight bleach may have caused the rubber pump interior to fall apart.
You should have put the bleach in your water hose so bleach would mix with water and go directly into your fresh water tank.
Information here for winterizing and de-winterizing and sanitizing.

Apparently you have determined that you have 12v to the water pump, and it still does not operate. Most likely a bad pump.

Did this pump fit directly, or did you have to make any mods. I'm crunched for time so need a fast fix.
