Ventana 3709 Wannabe..

Hello from Central VA. Planning to upgrade from a SOB Gasser to join the diesel club. Targeting a 2016 and up Ventana 3709 or 3709 LE to buy next year. Any comments on that model pros/cons and or leads on units for sale would be greatly appreciated.

Good afternoon! When the wife and I were shopping for a 2016 (+/-) diesel pusher to replace our 2007 Damon Astoria 3774 and keep a similar floor plan is when RV Trader guided us to the 2016 Newmar Ventana LE 4037 that we purchased from National Indoor RV Center (NRIV) in Dallas. By chance they also had 2016 Ventana 4037. The biggest difference between the Ventana LE and a Ventana in that size is jumping from single rear axle to a tandem rear axle. The Ventana had very minor amenities upgrades over the Ventana LE and has less basement storage with the addition of the tandem axle. The Ventana also cost $60,000 more than the Ventana LE. The cost and storage differences were the reasons we opted for the Ventana LE.

Out of curiosity, why are you considering a 37 foot Newmar versus a 40 foot model? The extra 3 feet in a 40 foot model is very nice to have especially when family visits!

RV Trader is a great resource to search for the Newmar you want!

Ventana 3709 Wannabe..

Make sure you check the CCC and the amount of the GCVWR available for your toad. For some models the LE is not rated to tow a mid-size toad if you max out the CCC.

By comparison a 43’ Ventana has 15k of towing capacity after you max out the CCC.

I also think the flooring is tile in the Ventana and laminate in the LE for many model years.

Also look for hardwood vs vinyl wrapped cabinets.

The LE is a nice entry level DP and we have it some thought. But make sure you look into the way you will use it and load it as part of the decision process.

We have a 2017-3709 Ventana. We really enjoy it. It drives really well and getting into CG's is a breeze. We were looking also at the 40 footer's, but since we store at our house with alley access a 40' would be problematic getting in. It's the 2 of us and the fur child. The biggest difference between a Ven and a LE is the engine. 360 to a LE 340, also wether you get an Oasis heating or Propane. I now covet 1 more bay in the 40' as I need a little more space. But all said and done...Very Satisfied!!

We have a 2017 Ventana LE 3709, and will be selling it in January of 2020. We love it, drives beautifully, looks great, no pets, no smoking, at this point 18,000 miles...In California!

After 20+ years of RVing, we have decided it is about time to hang up the keys.

Looking at the same thing. Our pole barn is 40’ long so a 37’er is the longest we can go. There are a few used Ventana’s at Midway RV in Grand Rapids, Mi. One is actually what we want, except the furniture color. Check them out.

The 37' is plenty large for the two of us. We have found that it also gives us more choices in campsites than we would have with a longer coach.

We love the interior space with the full wall slide. The down side is that large slide makes for a very large slide topper which acts like a sail when the wind blows. It also pools water in even light rain or with AC condensation.

Especially like that the fireplace & TV are directly across from the couch. Never understood why some floor plans place these items at an odd angle to the primary seating.

We also went with the fiberglass roof & automatic slide locks (highly recommend both). Not sure if those options were available on the LE.

We have a 2018 Ventana LE 3709. We really like the layout and the bath and a half. 340HP has plenty of power for us. We camp primarily at state parks and COE parks so 37’ was right at max. Have only had one spot we couldn’t get into.

We ordered ours with most of the options back in 2017 and have been very happy with it. We chose the Ventana over the LE because of the larger Allison transmission allowing for a 10k tow rating so I can pull a pickup truck. The tile floors also made the coach much nicer to us. We also went with all electric and Oasis. The only regret we have had was not having recliners. But, it was also important to have the couch for the extra bed. After going through a few winter trips we can see the advantage of the heated floors that are available on the Dutch Star. We have also found the coach to drive very nice through mountains and wind. No regrets for us at all.
