Also consider that most Prevost conversions are about 105 lbs, per HP! Here's some other thoughts on diesel HP needed. Diesel pushers require brawny engines. How much horsepower is enough?

Our last coach was a 43ft Navigator with a 525 HP, 1650 FtLb Detroit 60 series engine. It had lots of power and got 7mpg. We just purchased a 2017 Dutch Star with a 450 HP 1250 FTLB Cummins engine. Since the GVW was about the same I was naturally concerned about performance. Turns out the new one is a bit slower off the line, a couple of mph slower up the hill but certainly not a deal killer. I don't really understand why the performance is almost the same, but it is. Btw they both get 7mpg. Go figure.
