Made the upgrade to an 07 Ventana 3933 on a Spartan at Guaranty RV in Oregon, great dealership, only thing missing is the rock guard, nearly $500 later I have the parts from Newmar, but the guard is not precut for the exhaust pipe to pass thru. Before I start hacking this one up can anyone help with a picture of the factory placement ? Even mo better will be measurements from the top and side to the cut out. BTW Guaranty now has a very well cared for 06 KountryStar gasser to sell.

They have a pretty good size hole in this picture.

Many take/leave them off due to rocks being sucked up by them. We shortened ours and moved if forward closer to the rear wheels.

Great photos, you 2 are having way too much fun, jeeps, quads and Harleys are an unbeatable combo, like all the mods. Previous owner ? had what looked like a factory guard, mounted behind the Cummins exhaust (drivers side on Spartan) Looks like it kept dragging so he kept hacking. Great guy, he pitched all the manuals, took the table, chairs, Sony surround amp and Sat dish. Nice for us a we are adding desk, table and 6 chairs, Wiengard HD antenna etc. Kinda like factory order at half the price. Guess I'll get out the spiral saw and start cutting. Has anyone found the factory brake control wires ? I keep hunting and pecking under the dash, CB wires were right there. On that note does the exhaust brake activate the brake lights and brake controler. If so how do you stop from happening. I'm thinking long grades where I really don't want to burn out the trailer brakes.

Hi Teamwally,

Congratulations on your upgrade. In my '01 DSDP on a F/L and a MADP on a Spartan Chassis the toad/trailer brakes were activated when the exhust or compression brake was activated. I believe that the towed vehicle brakes are wired thru the brake light circuit and the brake lights are activated when using exhust/compression brakes are used.

I understand that a diode can be inserted in the brakelight circuit to resolve the unwanted braking.

On both my toads I wired an on off switch in the brake system so I could disable toad brakes on long downgrades while using the motor home brakes for speed control.

Hope this helps.
