Ventana SE 4375 Engine Fire Area

We have a 2011 Ventana SE 4375 and recently had a fire in the engine area. We parked in a RV park, I put it in neutral then set the parking brake, and the sound of the air release a large black smoke cloud was at the rear of the coach. I immediately grabbed the fire extinguisher ran to the rear and dropped to the ground and extinguished a fire ball size of the width of the coach. Fuel was dripping on the ground. Well the coach was towed to a Freightliner/ Cummings dealer and they have pulled out several wiring harnesses including 2 that connects to the engine computer, the starter and engine computer to name a few of the major pieces. It looks like wiring wore bare from rubbing on the heat shield plate next to the exhaust. Every one should check for bare wires occasionally under their coach.
We’ve been broke down since May 7th. The Engine Computer Harness was burnt & has to be built by a contractor 10-15 day build time. They can't find one anywhere on a shelf.

Hey Newmar have you ever heard of such a disaster.

Sorry for your misfortune and near disaster, fortunately you had fire extinguisher close by and acted quickly. Hope you get back on the road soon.

There was a recall in that year range regarding a fuel line or oil line rubbing near the starter. I would have them check to see if that recall applied to your coach, and if this was ever corrected. Are you the original owner?

Seems to me their was a fuel rail recall on some of the Cummins engines. It was on my ISL back in 08, but don't know how far into the future it ran from there. You might check to see if yours was on it but did not get notified. Some of the brackets holding rail were not tightened down, and could cause the rail to wear and fail.
