Ventena 4369 vs DS 4369

I'm consideringupgrading from our Discovery to a '14-16 Ventena or DS, with the 4369 floor plan (model years '14-16).

I'd like to hear from anyone that has moved from a Ventena to a DS, and besides the obvious outside changes, what were the interior and drive train differences? For example, do both models have a Front Indepentent suspension?

Also, was a King sized bed an option on the ('14-16) 4369 Ventena?

I have been in a 2016 Ventana 4369 since August 2016, I just sold it. moving into the 2020 Dutchstar 4328, Loved my Ventana, no Front independent suspension on the Freightliner 2016. Dutchstar does have it. Ventana had and I assume standard King size sleep number bed. Ventana no heated floors, Dutchstar yes. 400 HP rear radiator on Ventana, side 450 HP on Dutchstar. Heaver chassis on Dutchstar more weight rating. I barely had things loaded on my Ventana and my Front axel 14,700 LBs was about maxed out. hope that helped.

Thank you. Very helpful!

The reason I asked about the Ventana 4369 bed size was I had assumed all Ventana 4369's came with a King sized bed (as shown in Newmar's brochure), but I recently ran across a '16 model with a Queen sized bed.

I was leaning towards the Ventana model because I actually prefer having a roof ladder and did not want the extra fiberglass material around the roof. But the Front Independent Suspension is important to me too so perhaps a DS is in my future. Also interesting about the loading limitations on the Ventana.

I do know owners who have ordered queen beds in lieu of the king. The ladder is nice to access the roof, I do carry the telescoping ladder which ill need a 15' for the Dutchstar. Obviously the cost difference is huge Ventana Vs Dutchstar, and I loved the Ventana. You won't be disappointed that's for sure.. GL

I believe the ventana ladder is gone in 2020.

On bed, it's a king standard, but you can option (or social order - can't remember which) a queen.

Christian did you notice a difference in ride quality and/or handling when you moved to your DS with its independent front suspension?

Gotcha. I haven't seen it in any pictures, but hadn't checked the order sheet. I figured going to more of the raised facade like the others that they must have done away with it completely.

They left the back of the facade open in the back, this one was ordered without the ladder
Here is one with a ladder

another advantage is the 43' Dutch Stars have 365 tires on the front. The ride & handling is incredible. This came out as of 2017 along with a heavier front axle.
Have a 4369 DS & it rides like a dream.

One big complaint with the Dutch Star is the drives & passenger seats are way too soft. We had Flex Steel replace the seat cushions with their Extra Firm cousin and now love the seats.

Ventena 4369 vs DS 4369

FWIW, King Size bed is standard but Sleep Number is an option. About $1250 on a 2020. Most dealers do option it in on a stock unit.

We just went through the Ventana/DS decision and ended up ordering a 2020 Ventana 4362. We had been looking at the 4369 for the last 6 months until they added 4362 to the Ventana in 2020. The wife fell in love with the walk in closet.

CCLuff did a great job highlighting the differences. At the end of the day I could not justify the price difference to add IFS, side radiator and heated floors.

Another part of your decision becomes the model year. You could get a Ventana a couple of years newer than the DS at the same price.

I'm not too concerned about the side radiator or heated floors, but I am curious if there is much of a difference in ride quality and/or handling with IFS?

I can't help you since I have not had both but I found this and several other threads like them interesting and affect my decision.

Straight axle vs independent suspension
