HDMI is the preferred cable/connection type for High Definition (HD) video/audio. It's what you get from HD satellite receivers and Blu-Ray players, etc. Standard Definition (SD) is the old-style TV resolution, what you get from DVD players and VCRs (more or less).
My point is, if you're going to "upgrade" the video system in an RV, you're usually talking about HD TVs and new HD capable source devices (Blu-Ray, HD satellite, etc). If you're doing that, the best thing is to junk all the old stuff and do it right.
Oh yeah - RF is Radio Frequency, and it's what you get from the coax output of a VCR (and maybe a DVD player) that goes into the old-style video control unit, and comes out at the TV on channel 3 or 4. Mediocre SD resolution at best.
