Has any one had to replace a section of the ceiling? I am in the process of changing the front cabinets to accommodate a flat screen TV but i also want to move the head banging point towards the windshield. Unfortunately they put screws through the headliner that I can not cover. It looks like they install a t-mold type molding between the sections of ceiling. I thought maybe I could just install a new piece of vinyl and cover up all the impressions. Thanks for the help.

The roof rafters are 16" on center the ceiling panels are 4' wide.
The plastic strips are forced between each panel.
The first panel where the front ceiling cabinets are is held up to ceiling studs with screws through panel.
Most of conversions we have seen by members have been changed with out causing a problem with ceiling.
In Quick Tips & Mods there are 5 or 6 conversions that may help with your problem.
A piece of finished wood panel may hide the indentation where your cabinet was located.
Replacing ceiling panel may cause a bigger problem for you.
If you can find a glue that would hold a new piece of vinyl to present one on panel maybe the easiest fix if the wood panel does not work for you.
You could trim vinyl of existing vinyl near panel edge so new piece can be held by T strip.

Thanks 007 I have looked at those but what I am doing is replacing the cabinets to accommodate a few things.
1 Install a 37" LCD and either move it forward, to prevent banging my head when entering the coach, or pivot it down.
2 Install full width sun visor
3 Replace side curtains with day/night shades

After removing the old TV box it sure looks good not having anything hanging down and it would be nice to keep it that way. I would like to replace the front roof panel because of the impressions. I thought about a piece of wood but with the angled cabinet on the drivers side it comes out too far.

If you call Newmar Parts maybe you could get a piece of vinyl ceiling fabric and ask what adhesive would work to hold to existing ceiling fabric.
The new piece should hide the old location of cabinets and possibly match the existing ceiling panels.
The indents maybe could be filled to smooth out ceiling.

Just an aside - for those with Essex roofs (and others where the roof panels are fastened with "Christmas Trees" see below) the retainers are available at NAPA p/n Balkamp 665-2435 (about $5/dozen). BTW - trying to reuse one of these is basically impossible, always use new and they will slip right in.

We've done this mod a few times. Here are are pics of 2 examples. Use wood, not vinyl or cloth.
