Water heater temp.

Was wondering if there is a way to lower the max temp of the water. One wrong move and you can scald yourself.

Can you check the temp of the water coming out of the faucet? I think the thermostat is set for around 135. There is no adjustment as far as I know other than perhaps replacing the thermostat. If the water is scalding hot then the thermostat may not be working properly, not seated properly against the side of the tank.

If it's a suburban heater; they sell 3 thermostat options 120, 130, 140 for each energy side. ( lp or el) I think the 120 is std. We increased ours from the 120 to the 140 so our 10gal will do 2 showers back to back. FYI
