We rarely if ever need to stop overnight in a Walmart. But as we travel throughout the country we probably stop at one for shopping almost every week wherever we are located. What is taking place at some of them in California I have never witnessed anyplace else.

Newhall Ranch Rd?
The rule against overnighting in Valencia may be tied more closely to the Campgrounds in Castaic getting the city to institute the Code to drive RVs to the campground versus Walmart caring what the RV is actually doing. Which is happening more and more in So Cal.

Interesting replies.
I have "Wallydocked" a few times. Always only one night at a time. We usually stop around 7:00 pm and are usually pulling out by 7:00 am.
We do not put out awnings and only extend slides on the curb side.
We park in an out-of-the-way area of the parking lot, usually around another RV or truck.
I appreciate Walmarts generosity and hope folks will realize that it is just that, "generosity".
Here is another idea that I spotted in Marshfield, MO:

This is a pretty cool concept. This one is right off the interstate. It has showers, laundry area, and a pool. Full hook ups including wifi.
For $30 - $34 per night, you have all the amenities of most campgrounds and can stay as long as you need to.
I am not sure how many of these there are around the country. I know there are two in Missouri.

Refresh your screen and try again. I noticed after I submitted the post that the link was not correct.

That is awesome and is something we would use. Too bad there aren't many of those around.

Well, I for one appreciate the over night stays at Wal-Mart. We aren't the type of travelers that want to "have" to make it a 300 mile day to get to a destination for an overnight stay. We most generally also shop at the Walmart which we spend a night at. There is always something that we need and feel that patronizing that store helps them as well. And yes, those that abuse, put out slides and even go as far as putting cones around their trailer and then driving off to whatever, just plain ruin it for everyone. So again, Thanks Walmart. Ps, we don't have a new, large, or expensive RV and are on a tight retirement budget.

I read the article, I'm trying to figure out what the problem is. The Walmart where the RVs are staying or storing long term is OK with Walmart so why should I care?
Walmart could solve a problem if they thought there was a problem and yet they continue to allow it.
If they allow it and municipalities decide they don't want it then they can pass ordinances which has been done.
Sorry, I don't see a problem.

I'm with you. That particular Walmart doesn't have an issue, the city allows it, what's the beef?

I see this place as a perfect stop in between destinations for a one night layover. I would gladly pay $30 rather than Walmart expecially if I needed to top up and drain tanks then be on my way the next day.
Looks like an extension of Holiday Inn Express and a great way to use up extra land and generate revenue
