Want to add Propane connection outside

Love to BBQ and use a portable propane tank now. Feel its would be safer with only MH tank. Would like to hear pro/con on adding a aux propane connection. How long a hose can I use? Do I use existing regulator? Good location for connection? Can I Tee off any existing pipe? Any ideas.

Kurt, I have a outdoor propane fire place and a coleman roadtrip grill, the fireplace has a regulator w/20' hose on it that hooks up to the 20# tank, I use the same 20# tank (I have 2 of them, spare full) to fire the roadtrip grill, the 20# tanks are a lot easier to take and get filled than getting the propane tank filled on the Coach. I also was going to install a outdoor hookup like you are asking about but after thinking about it I went with the 20# tanks. Like everything ......personal preferance.

We use en extend-a-stay type device, it attaches between the coach tank and regulator. We have about 20' of hose which allows us to position the grill where we like it. With this setup we continue to use the regulator on the BBQ.

I have a 7 lb tank, 1 gallon. 1 little regular bottle in backup. This way I can cook anywhere, and find a leeward place out of the wind, or take it to the neighbors site.
Easy-peasy

I added an Extend A Flow connector for this purpose. Here are some pics of my installation that might help.

Hi Vivarose,
Go to Extend A Stay Added To Coach Propane System - iRV2.com RV Photo Gallery to see my extend a stay installation. 20' hose works well. I use this only when we will be at a spot for a while. Short stays I stay with the portable sources for fuel.

Irv2 is a great start for good ideas with all the experience of the road.

Choosing a extend a stay seems, with 20 feet hose, the why to go. It answers my problem and will give an additional tank hookup if needed for long stays. I can still carry a 5 gallon for backup for those windy locations.
Thanks to all. Kurt

Here's what I had made up.

I had 10ft hoses made up coming off the Firepit and BBQ and one extra extension 10ft length in case I want to move either farther away.

Sorry, here's a link to a better version of the picture. Scroll down the page and click on the pic to view a larger size.

Hope this helps,
