Want to buy a Newmar

We plan on full timing next year and after looking at 5th wheels and trailers we decided we don't feel like pulling a trailer all across the country
So we decided on a Class A ,and from our research Newmar seemed the best from all we read in our price range.
What we are looking for is to spend up to 45,000 which puts us in the 2003-2008 model years.
My question is are certain models and years where maybe the quality was better and don't have as many problems.Better engines in certain years. Also I'm looking gas.We would like to stay under 36 feet
I know I'm asking a loaded question but any help would be great

Me thinks that you may spend a bit more than that. I think my coach is worth more that $45,000. JM2C.

It depends on the year, condition, mileage, and length. You will have to be the judge on all those, but have the drivetrain systems checked and do an fluid analysis. At 45K you are looking at a smaller unit, and probably in the 2003-4 year range (probably a gasser). There are deals out their, but check them out, closely...

At 45K you will be looking at least a 5 year old,or,older. Smaller in size and probably a gas model. Hope you are a handy man.

Keep an.eye on Craigslist and local small dealers lots you can very likely do something in those model years in a DS or MADP. I bought my 99 MADP 4 yrs ago for about $40K

RVT.com RVTrader and iRV2 Classifieds are good places to research what asking prices are for various makes models and yrs.
You might also find a dealer or private sale in a location you are willing to travel to.

I was lucky....

I bought an older ('96) DSDP a few months ago in great shape, and got it for under 10k! I am very handy and that helps a lot. I don't know very much about diesels but I am learning. Good luck in your search and happy trails when you find your rig.

If you want a diesel unit in that model year range you need to put a one in front of the 45.

Full timing under 36'? I would think that would be difficult.

You should have no problem finding gas Newmar coaches in your price range. In fact you just described my coach, which has been wonderful for us. (We've been looking at larger diesels, but hesitant because everything works perfectly in our gas coach)

Do a search on RV Trader for the Kountry Star and you will find several. See if you can find one with a W24 Workhorse chassis as it will have a greater cargo capacity than the W22 or W20, etc.
