Warranty Work-A Terrific Alternative To Nappanee Hotels

The Baystar 3403 was the perfect choice for us and our factory pick-up experience in May was unbelievable. Unfortunately, the ice maker line leaked into the surrounding cabinet which wasn’t evident until the end of the week. The entire cabinet has to be replaced so we won’t be able to occupy the unit for a few days. Newmar will pay for us to be in a local hotel but that won’t work for us. I’m a severe asthmatic so rooms which have been smoked in, are musty, old etc. can cause serious medical consequences. That concern, along with being able to fix healthy meals in our own kitchen, and not having to worry about our beloved cat being in a hotel room, is what led us to buy an RV. SO….I think we have the perfect solution.

We’re going to rent an Aspen Trail trailer from Showalter RV D Showalter RV Rental, Travel Trailers, Elkhart, Goshen, Middlebury, Indiana while we’re in Nappanee. Steve Showalter has been amazingly accommodating with our schedule and he offers delivery, set-up, and take down (including dumping the tanks). All units are new each year, he has a strict no smoking policy, and a pet package which ensures all units are pristine for the next renter. Steve is familiar with Camp Newmar since he’s an Essex owner AND Newmar is going to apply the hotel allowance to our Showalter rental.

I’ll update you when we get home in a few weeks and I have no doubt I’ll tell you this is the only way to go whether your unit is uninhabitable for a few days or you just don’t like being out of your unit every day at 6:30am. We heard that the West Coast folks in particular find this to be way too early for them. It’s awfully early for this East Coaster as well!

Wow, seems it's usually the other way around, that a new MH or trailer has all those new smells of glue, new carpets etc that cause the air issues. Good for you, sounds like a great compromise and bravo for Newmar service.

If you are not already thinking of this, you might want to place that camper in another campground, outside of Newmar's parking lot. We were woken up by the commuter noise FAR earlier than our pre-tech-pickup alarm each day that we stayed there. I can't sleep with earplugs in, so maybe that would be an alternate solution for some folks.

Looking forward to your update regarding how this works out for you.

Aspen Rental Worked Out Great

Our Aspen rental worked out great. The unit was only a month old and while it had been rented before, it was pristine. Steve Showlater and his wife set it up in no time and we moved into the spot that our Baystar would have occupied. We were settled in and comfortable while our unit was being repaired. Some of the owners questioned having an "SOB" (some other brand) in the Camp but once they understood what we were doing and why and that Newmar was applying the hotel allowance to the rental-they wished they had known to do it. Both the 50 amp and 30 amp lots were completely full and that meant the lobbies were full as well. The guesstimate was that 75% of the owners had at least one dog so the lobby that welcomes dogs was jammed. Most owners rode around all day since they didn't want to board their dogs.

We had an easy stay at Camp Newmar and we applaud Newmar for being flexible and Showalter RV for being accommodating. It was a great experience.

Showalter Rental While In Nappanee

Yes, we have a cat too and didn't want to risk a hotel which was our primary reason for going this route. We were SUPER pleased. There is a pet package so you're certain your unit is clean when you get it.

Following is Steve Showalter's email and a link to his rental page so you can see his offerings. Good luck and safe travels.

You've mentioned it twice, but what is a "pet package" and how does it assure the unit is clean when you get it?

The ‘pet package’ is basically an additional cleaning charge that you are required to take if you rent a unit it’s $250.00 1 time for the length of the rental
