We're trying to use the washer for a second time, but there is no water coming in. The hoses in the back of the washer are in the on position, we're hooked up in the camp with water (the tank fill is not switched on). Any thoughts on things to look at?

Thanks,

Tom

This may be a dumb suggestion, but I always start my trouble shooting that way. Have you disconnected the washer hose(s) from the connection and verified you actually have water there? If not start tracing 'upstream'. If so it is probably in the washer control not engaging the fill cycle. Does the dryer work? If it is a combo. and no dryer then I would start checking circuit breakers.

Thanks above, I'll double check the hoses. The unit are two separates, and the power is on, the lights are visible.

Our washer unit is a Whirlpool front loader.

Thanks,

Tom

Well, I checked the hoses attached to the washer and water is coming up to these faucets - now I have to figure out why the water sin't getting into the washer.

Have you checked the screens on the water valve on the back of the washer? Run water through hoses while you have them off on that end. If screens are clean, try resetting or canceling any selected cycles previously engaged. Make certain the door gets fully closed. Keep us posted as to what you find and include model # if you are unsuccessful in getting it going.

Once the door is closed, listen for a click. This means the door is locked. On ours the water does not start to flow unless we hear the click. Hope this helps.

Since the topic is washing machines, I have a question as well.

I have a whirlpool front loader, seperate from the dryer. Yesterday when I put a load of laundry in to wash, it would start up for a minute or so and then the start switch would start flashing and thats all she would do. Stopped dead in it's tracks.

I called the 800 number in my instruction book and they really couldn't help. They told me to unplug the unit from the electric plug, check the circuit breakers and leave it alone for 10 minutes and let it reset itself. I also did what all of you have recommended, about the hose, and making sure the water is coming in.

About four hours later I went back to it again. Same ole, same ole. I finally got it to spin and stop on it's own. I was getting ready to unload it to take it to the laundry at the campground. Just for the heck of it. I started it up again and this time it worked. The start button stopped flashing and it worked well for two more loads. Has anyone had the start button flash on them. If so, what is that suppose to mean? The manual that comes with the coach doesn't have anything in the troubleshooting section about a flashing button.

Thanks
Happymi

Tom - we have had the exact same problem with our Whirlpool washer. It seems that the door latch switch must be firmly set for the washer to begin filling. We just had ours replaced at the Newmar factory & all works well now.

Try slamming the door closed. If that works, then you need the switch replaced.

Happyme - we too had that problem. As you state, the 800 number is useless, all they do is walk you through the exact same verbiage that is in the manual.

It appears that if the 'brain' of the washer gets confused it stops & the light flashes to indicate a problem. The way I got it to reset itself, was to turn the washer off. Throw the circuit breaker to 'off' and walk away. When I returned in an hour, I set the right hand washer dial to the "Stop" position, reset the breaker & THEN pushed to power button on.

Thanks Mark:

I did just as you said you did and it did start working again. I hope it isn't just a fluke and stops working again. I thought it was a faulty switch also, but I did slam the door shut and it didn't help. That is when I called the useless 800 number. You are correct, I know how to read the manual as well as they do.

It appears to me that our forums are the best source of information out there. I have read so many things that have help out just by reading other peoples problems.

Happymi - great!

Glad you got it working. We are shopping for new appliances for our new house and Whirlpool just dropped off the radar screen. Tech support like that deserves NO reward.

Mark
