I'm trying to get a handle on the new noises in my 2004 Kountry Star, W22. When I hear one that I'm not sure about in the engine I ask the service guy, but this is more of a user question.

When I'm connected to city water and when I turn the faucet off, or flush the toilet I hear a noise in the area of the water hook-up. It sounds almost as if the water pump is running but I checked and made sure it was off. The noise continues after the faucet is shut off and ends with (the only way I can describe it) what sounds like a groan.

Everything works fine, I'm just curious about this noise since I never heard it on my other MH.

Thanks,
E.B.

If I'm not mistaken, what you are hearing is the city water connection valve. This is a one-way valve; it will let water in but not out. That way, when you are using the water pump, water does not go shooting out of the city water connection.

Every RV I have owned has done this some are louder then others. Here is a test to check if this is what you are hearing. When you are filling you water tank from the city connection, move the city water / tank fill valve between the 2 positions and see if the noise shows up. It should be louder when squatting in front of the exterior water closet.

The only thing I have head you can do to fix the problem is to replace the city water inlet. But the next valve may be just as noisy, maybe someone else will have a better fix.

Thanks, that's about what I heard on another forum. He suggested low water pressure also. I took the pressure attachment off the hose and still got the noise.

It's no biggie, still getting used to the newness of everything.

Thanks,
E.B.

Make sure you put you pressure regulator back on you hose. I have aan adjustable one that I set to about 48psi, it gives me plenty of pressure and keeps it below Newmar's max rating.

If you go to the following WEB site and look at the 7th picture down, this is the regulator I have. You can build one of these yourself by getting the parts at a home improvemnt store.

It is probably a ball type check valve in the city water connection in your watercabinet as stated above and nothing to worry about. My first one was a little loud, so I had it changed. The second one still makes a noise and it might be a little less noisey but not much. I also had a water pump noise that was fixed by mounting the pump properly with the isolators.

The valve seems to be it, I'll have it checked the next time I'm in for service.

Thanks for the help, I'll get used to all these noises before long.

Doesn't the motorhome have a built in water pressure regulator? I have a 03 MACA and get the same pressure inside regardless of the outside apparent pressure. However, I can't find a regulator???
Thanks

I didn't see anything in the book about that but I've only read it twice

It's in the shop now for that and some other things so I'll ask about it when I go in to get it.

alcurr,I called Newmar Customer Service about the question you just asked, and was told by the rep. that yes there is a pressure regulator installed at the city water connection to stop over pressurized water from entering your coach, now I only asked about motorhomes.

We had a similar noise in our city water inlet. The inlet was made of plastic. The plastic inlet was replaced with a brass inlet. The brass inlet does not make any noise.

My plastic inlet was replaced with a brass inlet, also. That eliminated the noise.

Had the same problem. Newmar will fix it by replacing the plastic hose connection and pressure regulator with a nice neat metal one.

I should have an answer to this and several other small adjustments by the first of the week when they get done with it at the shop. I'll give a full update.
