We have a '09 Dutchstar. When I hook up the water at an RV site, I turn the handle and it fills the fresh water tank. No water will come out of any faucet while this is happening. When full, I turn the handle off and the faucets will work. My question, is there a way to use the water from the hose and use that water pressure as well instead of going through the pump and fresh water tank? Thanks

Do you have a switch/lever that says something like "tank fill" or something like that? Make sure that it is not set to fill the fresh water tank and then you can use the water right from the park hose, and their water pressure. You probably will want to have a regulator at the hose, not your coach too.

While your filling your tank if you put on your water pump, water will come out of your faucets. You have a pump switch in your water bay.
When you place fill handle to city service than you will have city water pressure to your faucets and than turn off water pump.
Fresh water fill leaks back when the Sureflow is on and nothing is connected to this
As for the switch (tank fill vs fresh water to MH), I do not think it does anything - the fill switch in the back decides on the tank fill, not the front switch
I asked Newmar They are sending me a new fresh water fill and tell me I can install this without any problems I am not a plumber
Hi HarrysRV,
The short answer to your questions is no. When the shore water connection is filling the water tank, it will be difficult to use water in the coach. The only exception I know of is exceptionally high shore water PSI.
I hesitate to mention this solution because it can lead to overfill of the fresh water tank. When you want to fill the coach fresh water tank and use water in the coach turn the valve 1/2 way. Some water will go into the tank and some will be available for coach use. Depending on how empty the tank is, it may take one day short of forever to fill the tank.
My solution is to fill the tank when coach use of water will not be needed.

Before you install anything have you tried to work the spring plunger in the water fill hose connection?
Take a pencil and with eraser on plunger pin work back and forth the plunger pin.
You may have some calcium built up on closing valve and water is getting by the valve when pump is on.
You have to removed the wire mesh washer to see the valve.
You may need some of the calcium cleaner to spray in the plunger valve also.
You may have water pump on just do not get wet when water sprays out.
If you mean the switch in back as to the diverge valve behind your water bay panel, when you turn black knob to right on panel yes it should fill your water tank, just turn opposite to use on city water.
My 05 looks like this also. When the "Fresh Water Tank Fill" lever is turned off the shore water is now avail from the hose. This does not require the pump or water from the tank.

Same for our previous 2000 and our present 2002 DSDP's

Hi Renden,
Try what I did. I put a short extension on the shore water inlet fitting. At the end of the extension is a quick connect. Either the shore water hose or a caped end is on the quick connect.
Now the coach shore water inlet has a short hose permanently fastened to it.

I put quick disconnects on both the Sewer and City Water fittings. I made sure each fitting was different which ensures I don't accidently use the sewer hose for city water or vice versa. Just a system for dummies like me.
