No, having had the small pumps before we ordered our unit with the 5.7. Next coach will have a AC pump(similiar to our boat-well type pump) with a 12V for backup.

Every 90 degree elbow will restrict some water flow. If like most, you have several elbows behind the water connection panel. Plus, your connection coming off campground systems often has weak pressure to begin with. Many have small lines which also limit volume. The lower volume can impact water at your RV's faucet.
Your on board pump probably has at least two less elbows to restrict flow plus it generates a good pressure and water flow.
One caution about where to place a water regulator...I leaned the hard way to put it at the campground faucet. A campground in Utah had over 120PSI at the faucet. It blew my hose just ahead of my pressure regulator that was set for 60PSI. Quite a shower when it went.
