Water pressure poor on city water

My 16 VT has poor water pressure when on city water. The problem is at all the faucets but the shower is unusable unless we use the pump. Pump pressure is fine. This has been a problem in the past few campgrounds where the pressure is 50-60.

I removed the Watts regulator. No difference.

Removed the house water filter. Pressure improved immediately. Replaced the house filter with the one in the pic. Problem returned immediately.

The obvious (to me) is a problem with the filter but this one is brand new. I don't really want to run without a filter.

The previous filter, which lasted about three months, was one from the rvwalterfilterstore.com but we are traveling and cannot get mail right now so I went to Lowe's and bought that one.

Thoughts?

You're not alone. We have to use the pump all the time.

At least three times the factory techs have looked at it. No kinks or obstructions found, their flow tests show "normal". This is the only RV (of 9) I've ever had to use the pump when on a city water supply.

I had the same problem with my 2007 Kountry Star. I replaced the inlet city water hose connection, and the problem went away.

Think about your problem again. If you have good pressure from the pump, but poor pressure from the city water then there is a restriction somewhere on the city water side alone. Since all water goes through the filter, it can't be the problem.

The city water inlet is isolated from the pump circuit and has a spring loaded valve to prevent back flow. That defective spring is the problem.

Good Luck!

Running the pump all the time is obviously not normal. So their flow test shows normal, what do they think the problem is? Do all London Aires run the pump all the time?

No. It is the female hose connection that the city water hose is connected to.

Good Luck!

Since the problem went away when you took out the filter, I'd say the filter's the problem. The one you bought at Lowes is probably not the right type and impeding the flow too much. Is there a post office close by that will let you receive a package via General Delivery?

The device in the picture is a check valve. One of them protects the pump from city water pressure, the other one prevents the water going out the city water hose when the pump is on.
.5 micron filter element in a single stage filter is too restrictive.

I had the same size (.5 micron) in there before:https://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/A1209.htm

Where is the other check valve?

In my rig that is just one long white garden hose type thing. No valves or anything.

Hi - For a whole house filter the usual replacement is a 5 micro filter, not a .5 micron. Most .5 micron filters are going to pass a low gallons per minute. You may find some that pass at a higher rate but generally they are very expensive. Try a 5 micron and see what you think.

If there's a screen in the city connection, right where you'd screw the hose on, there is a valve there....pull the screen out.....you'll see it

Thanks everyone.

It turned out to be the filter.

I bought a cheap one from HD and that solved the problem.

The filter doesn't have a micron rating and only removes sediment so when i get somewhere that I can receive mail I'll get a decent one from rvwaterfilterstore.

we had the same issue with the water pressure low. I tried a couple different filters. different microns and manufacturers. Since we use bottled water for coffee and drinking anyway i just left the filter element out. When in the motorhome we dont drink much water anyway. Just a lot of beer and bourbon.
