Water Pump Stopped

I was pumping out the water tank this evening (when I was sanitizing the system) and the water pump stopped running. The tank was still 1/3 full. I felt the pump motor and it was very warm.

I’m hoping there’s a thermal shutdown on the motor that will reset when it cools down?

Anyone have knowledge of this.

Mine did the same thing when I was doing the drainout too. Turn it off and wait 30 minutes. It is a thermal breaker.

Thanks, we have to be away from the coach for a few hours, that’s reassuring.

Why do you not use the tank drain for the fresh water tank??

In my case, it was about speed. I opened all the valves for drain, the two labeled hot water and cold water, plus the low point drain. It poured, but slowly. So I called the engineer and said "give me more power scotty", and hit the pump switch. Water poured out faster, until the 1/3 mark when the pump stopped.

Didn't want to use the drain in this case, because it would make a muddy mess around the coach and the coach next to me.

All is good. The pump motor does have a thermal protection switch. After it cooled down a while, it worked just fine.

But I learned a lesson. I won't sanitize the tank again unless I'm in a situation I can use the tank drain.
