Water temp has changed
My last 2 trips this summer the water temps has been running 198 - 201. I thought it had run 185 but figured that was due to winter driving. In the last 40 miles of my last 4700 mile trip the temp suddenly dropped back to 185 creped back to 200 and bounced up and down for the next 40 miles to home. nothing had changed air temp of 90 , same flat landscape,,, in fact the first time it dropped I was going up a slight hill.
I could consider the fan had kicked in but in the last 8000 miles the temp fluctuation has never dropped to 185..... ever
I am wondering if I have a thermostat problem and I should replace it on next service. Oh, and I cleaned the radiator before the last trip with no effect.

How do I do that? Does the system need flushing? I cleaned the radiator fins with simple green, I presume you are referring to something else

Hello Jerry, when I did mine, it still ran hot, after reading on here I tore it apart. Took the charge air cooler out.........and I was shocked to the debris that was on them as they are stacked and just cleaning them on the Coach never got to the inside surface's of the radiator and cooler. Use the search bar at the top and research this subject. Here are a couple of photo's from another member's after repeated cleaning from just the outside and inside, then he tore it apart..........
I had a lot of leaves, dirt and mud at the bottom of mine but not quite as bad as his......

So you would have to drain the radiator to do this I assume. That's 11 gallons of antifreeze to dispose of and refill. Sounds like it's not a very easy job to tackle.

It really is not to bad of a Job Jim, Especially if one has a shop to do it in........everything comes apart fairly easy on the side radiator. To have it done at a shop, labor will be expensive for sure.........Good time to have the Charge Air Cooler pressure tested and the Radiator checked also........and all the connection's to them........good to go then.

Ours consistently runs 183 on flat roads, regardless of ambient temp. Hit the rolling hills and it creeps up to the 195 range... mountains, 200+ -- just gotta keep the RPMs up in the mountains.
