Just thought I'd drop in and say hey. While I am here may I ask a question. Just recently purchased a new 2005 Kountry Star, quad slide out with a 330 Cummins. So far I have really enjoyed the amenities and creature comforts Newmar has to offer. But I have recently ran across a problem that can only be rectified with dry weather. It seem that when the awning (a Weather Pro Power Awning) gets wet, it ceases to function. Any tips other than "Don't get it wet".
Thanks
Harry

Harry, as I read the user's guide, if the wind sensor gets wet the awning will retract and you cannot open it as long as the sensor is wet. This happened to us in a dense fog with heavy rain the night before. We could not open the awning. After a few miles down the road (after the fog lifted) evidently the sensor dried out and the awning would open.

The sensors are notorious for not "sensing" things correctly. If you look in the basement where the awning control panel is located you can turn of the sensor and control it manually if you want.

I knew this was a good idea joing this forum. I want to thank James and Mark for your help. James, I was glad to see I wasn't the only one having this problem and you are right about the literature information. James, thanks for helping a newbie get around the beast. I found the switch you refered to and will try it out.
Thanks to both of you for your help....rectified

Harry,
Our WeatherPro awning has had problems from the beginning. The dealership has worked on four times and it still does not operate properly. Mine was just the opposite of yours, when it was hot in the middle of the day, you could not deploy it at all, when it cooled down it went out fine. Right now we are on the road and are not going home until October and I have the switch disabled, just have to remember if you are leaving the rig for any period of time, check the weather and bring it in if it might storm.

I experienced a different problem. After several uses the fuse, located inside the control box, would blow. After that happened twice I increased the amp rating by one. It has worked without problem ever since. I don't remember the fuse size.
