What I Learned Today

Make sure your fridge is secure. Beer bottles on ceramic tile male a huge mess. Not the worst thing, but I won't make that mistake again [emoji1]

The time I forgot to lock the fridge it was the freezer drawer that came flying out.

Wow. Don't these residential-type fridges have latches that lock the way my No-cold does?

Does your fridge in your kitchen at home automatically lock? No, because it is illegal to build refrigerators like that anymore. So you put the same fridge in a motorhome and you have to add a manual lock to stop the doors flying open when you go round a bend. It is easy to forget to activate that lock.

This is yet another horrible example of "alcohol abuse" [smile]. Agree, it is pretty darn hard to find a residential fridge with locking doors. My question is: do they sell RV fridges with built in fire extinguishers--inquiring minds want to know? This debate will never go away......

Isn't about time you moved on from that Alpine Coach so you don't have to worry about things like that?

Maybe there is a way we could add that to the check list on the Freightliner information panel.
But I don't look at that either so it is probably a waste of time.

Newmar put a neat lock on the 10cf fridge in the Ventana. Not sure about other models. You fridge does look like my microwave though.

In the picture you posted I THINK I can see a glimpse of the slide locking mechanism. It is at the very right hand bottom of the picture. You slide to the left to lock and right to open. On mine, I sometimes have to push on the doors a little to fully engage the sliding lock.

Never had a problem with the doors coming open. Except of course when I forgot to lock the darn thing. I decided not to blame the fridge in that instance :-)

My bad. I assumed everyone knew that all Newmar residential refrigerators are fitted with a sliding lock between the top doors and the freezer and that we were discussing the implications of forgetting to latch it. Never assume
BTW. There is a recall on those latches, so check with Newmar to see if yours is one of those affected

Don't allow the recall. We never had a problem with our doors until the recall and now the slide lock vibrates out and the doors fly open. We have to Velcro doors closed.
