Yes, getting the answer straight from the horses mouth is probably the best bet, but I thought someone here might know the specific brand - I don't want any guesses. I've used polyurethane directly on unstained wood in the past and know that the resultant colors can vary depending on type that is used.
In addition to the grade (my Kountry Aire's cherry isn't a particularly high grade), there are also different speices of cherry - Newmar may or may not know the answer to that - and also how it is cut, whether sapwood is included (I think mine has some), how the wood is presanded and prepped, etc. probably all come into play in the finished product's appearance.
I am presently looking at the highest graded PA black cherry, purchased in a flitch (that's where the boards are cut consequetively from the same tree so you can match the grain patterns). I'm sure Newmar isn't anywhere near that particular.
