What Is The Scam

There is a 2015 Newmar London Aire on RV Trader for $81,000. I replied jokingly assuming there was an error in the ad. They replied back that it was the price and cash only. What is the scam?

Not sure how to answer as you're dealing with a total "unknown" but if you're interested in making the purchase, look at the coach then call the local law enforcement agency and see if they will send out an officer to run the VIN to see if it's stolen. While waiting, check all the paperwork and make sure it matches the coach. If the coach is financed, call the finance company and see how much is owed on the vehicle.

This is a total scam, one that is apparently repeated often enough because of some very trusting (I'm being kind here) and gullible people who keep participating in it.

Seen a lot of those ads when I was in the hunt. RVT and CL both.

If they are a scam they will try to get you to send money sight unseen and will create an urgency for you to do so. DONT! Personally I wouldn't send a penny on an ad like that. Get on a plane if you have to or find someone who can at least go see the vehicle in person before making a deposit and then ONLY if you get a copy of the sellers DL.

LJowdy nailed it as far as what to do.

Good luck

Want to see scams, scan ads for vehicles & RVs on Craigslist.

If it sounds too good to be true, . . . .

Do your due diligence as to the validity of such low pricing. There are a ton of lead in Scams throughout whatever advertising media you are looking in. I personally (just for fun) pursued one such "Too hard to believe" ad on Craigslist and all I got was the run around and never could meet an actual person. What I experienced with the scammers was they were primarily interested in getting my email address and cell #. Buyer beware..there are no free lunches out there!

I wouldn't waste my time on it. You know its a scam. No one in their right mind would sell a decent 2 yr old London Aire for that money. If it truly is a 2 yr old LA for that amount, something major is wrong. It must be missing an engine and transmission. Why bother? Its a scam or a junker at best. Or as above, you may have to take delivery of it underwater.

Post #2 has the best and correct answer!

BTW, I just searched for a 2015 London Aire for $80,000 on RVTrader and no such animal existed.

Same type of post over on the Entegra forum last week. If you see something like this report it to RVT. They are constantly taking down bogus ads.

HAd something like this when we were looking. If the price seems way to good to believe it is. Way to test them is ask where the RV is located. Then no mater the location tell them you are available tomorrow to see item and will buy it after inspection. You will not hear from them again after you tell them you will meet them tomorrow.

Good luck with your search.
