Hi guys and Gals, first post, and already need help, I recently become the owner of a '96 Mountain Aire (Ford 460). Seller gave me the guided tour and of course i forgot most of the details of what does what. My first (probably of many to come) question is about a small switch to the left as you enter the side door. It is underneath the "Trace" AC(120V) inverter remote switch and the AC Volts display. It looks to be OE and not added later. Any old gas powered Mt Aire owners have any ideas, hints or outright know what it is/does? I flipped it on /off and can seem to figure it out. I'm guessing it has something to do with charging batteries since I can't get the house batts to charge with anything but the rooftop solar panels. I was lucky to get a lot of the original owners manuals and info but don't see anything about the mystery switch. TIA
Hans

I have a different coach, but in mine there is a switch by the door that controls an interior light on the ceiling. That light has a switch on it, that if flipped to the off position will cause the switch by the door to do nothing. Just a guess.

Welcome new members to the forum & irv2.
The florescent lights on ceiling have a switch on outside end of light which you would leave on because the light is usually controlled by a white switch on wall.
Entrance door switch's would control the front florescent ceiling light and possible another one next to it your outside security lights on passenger side.
If you have a small solar panel with a red led light on dash area the panel would be for your chassis starting battery its only to make up for any parasitic discharges off your chassis battery.
Your coach's are set up with a BIRD System that will maintain the charge of all you batteries on coach both the chassis and house batteries.
As long as your shore cable is plugged in to 120V outlet the BIRD System will charge the batteries.
The COM_NET2 LINK will give you information about your coach with brochures and Owners Guides and tech info, but the Newmar system is shut down this evening.
You can pick up all this information in the Quick Tips & Mods link plus more that you will need.
Enjoy the forums on irv2.

Is it the salesman switch? If turned off the batteries will not charge on our coach. Just a thought as I am not familiar with your coach.

Being a gas unit and having the door on side of coach this switch could be the master for the cargo bays lights.
Turn on switch, open one of the bays, turn light on, with light on shut off inside switch, if light goes off you found what this switch is.

Hans, welcome to the forum. I agree with some other posters. Ceiling light, battery switch, or compartment lights...

Probably should start a new post for my question, but not sure how to start a new thread. I have 2010 Newmar Canyon Star, 36ft. There is a noise on and off under the kitchen sink (water heater ?) that sounds like a teletype-clicking for several taps, stopping and starting. It happens in intervals not associated with any other activity going on, in the daytime and overnight. Any suggestions as to what it can be would be appreciated.

My best guess is something to do with your LP powered appliances -- ignitor for pilots....

Most switchs for appliances are in the display area as in the picture. The gas switch for water heater and the AC switch for electric elements for water heater.

"John" fishnjb the new thread is at the top left hand side of main first page of Newmar forum same location on any page you may be viewing which has post reply.
If your water heater is under your kitchen counter you maybe hearing the spark igniter for gas flame of water heater. Once the water is hot just leave the electric elements on ,AC switch, and shut off gas switch and than see if ticking stops.
